Stormy Monday

Nothing like hail to start off a new work week! Storms developed quickly out ahead of a cold front this morning and we still have a couple in our far northern counties as of 5PM Monday night. Most of the activity is confined to northern and central Illinois where the better ingredients for storms are, so much of STL and areas west will gradually clear out tonight.

Storms that rolled through early today brought hail larger than an inch in diameter to areas just west of St. Louis; up to half dollar size in Washington, MO! Thanks to our awesome 5 On Your Side viewers who shared their photos with us - they help us and the National Weather Service confirm the severity of the storm at the ground level, since most of us are working indoors glued to a radar.

The cold front that triggered the storms will move through tonight, shifting our winds to the northwest and keeping things much cooler overnight. That said, we'll have more sunshine tomorrow and Wednesday before our next system approaches Thursday.

Easter weekend looks somewhat active, but we're not seeing a big potential for severe weather at this time. Saturday looks like the drier day, although no day over the holiday weekend looks like a washout. Sunday will be warm for egg hunts and church with highs in the 70s!
