Active pattern returns Easter weekend

After a beautiful couple of days under high pressure across the bi-state, an active weather pattern gets underway again for the holiday weekend.

Despite several storm chances, we're talking warm temperatures that will stretch all the way through next week! Our 7-day forecast has 80s through the weekend, with 70s into next week. The Climate Prediction Center is on board, too, with above average temperatures expected through the next two weeks.

The upper level pattern has several amplified waves traversing across our area over the next week and a half, meaning we'll have several chances for storms. The increased precipitation has really helped us out. If you remember, about 2 weeks ago we were in a massive rain deficit, and now we're less than 0.5" below average on precipitation for the year and all moderate drought has been eliminated.

The next chance of rain will come on Good Friday, especially by afternoon. Right now it doesn't look like these will become severe, but we could have a few storms with brief heavy downpours.

Saturday looks like the best day to get out and do your egg hunts or any traveling; it will be beautiful across our entire area with low 80s and likely more sunshine during the day. A cold front approaches late Saturday night that will bring clouds by evening, and thunderstorms for early Easter Sunday. We could have some dry time for the second half of Easter, so if you have an egg hunt planned for later in the day you may be able to get it in.

Next week the active pattern continues, with rain and storm chances through most of the week. The Cardinals return home on Monday, and don't forget, Wednesday is Weather Day at Busch Stadium! We have an amazing program planned highlighting the power of mother nature and how to stay safe in inclement weather. With your ticket you'll also get to stay for the Cardinals game and have lunch!
