Heavy rain makes for a split weekend

It's been a soggy end to the work week for some of us across the bi-state, with heavy rain continuing to fall across southern Missouri into Oklahoma on Friday morning.

Saturday will be a wash out for many, especially if you live south of I-70. The heaviest rain will track in along I-44 overnight into Saturday morning, with scattered showers continuing through the afternoon. We don't see much in the way of clearing until after dark Saturday evening. Between 2-3" of additional rain is possible for folks south of 70 by Saturday night, so be aware of flooding, particularly towards Rolla, Fort Leonard Wood, and the Lake of the Ozarks area where they're getting rain by the buckets Friday morning.

It's going to be QUITE chilly this weekend too, especially coming off of days with highs in the 80s. If you're going to the Color Run in STL, prepare for wet clothes and a stiff northeast wind that could gust up to 30 mph. It will only be around 45 degrees at race time...yikes!

Sunday looks much better, whew! High pressure slides in from the north and sunshine really warms us back up. Coming off highs in the low 50s on Saturday, Sunday will be beautiful with highs near normal in the upper 60s.

The overall pattern for the next couple weeks looks near or slightly above average temperature wise, with above normal precipitation. Much of the abnormally dry area around our region has subsided due to recent rain, but we're still about an inch below average before today's rain gets accounted for.
