New record!

What a CRAZY "winter" this has been so far in St. Louis! We are almost done with the month of February, and meteorological spring begins in on March 1.

St. Louis Lambert International Airport recorded yet another record high temperature today of 79 degrees. The previous record of 78 was set just last year.

I had to get out and get some fresh air and take it all in for a few minutes at Citygarden on my lunch break.

In fact, this is likely going to go down as the warmest February EVER. So far, and with the forecast for the next 7 days, we have averaged a temperature of about 47 degrees. The average monthly temperature for February is about 44.

INTERESTING FACT: So far we have had 6 days of 70 degrees or warmer afternoons this month. If we get 7, we will tie a record for the most 70+ days in February. That was set back in 1976. It's quite possible with a few more 70s in the forecast this week. If we get 8, that's a new record!

With the warmth, we're also experiencing below average rainfall. We're more than 2" below average on liquid precipitation since the beginning of 2017, and almost A FOOT of snow behind.

We'll have a couple chances for rain this week, and the work week looks mild with Wednesday as the "pick" day. Things turn colder as a cold front sweeps through late Friday, and overnight lows fall to near or just above freezing.

Mardi Gras weekend will be much cooler than this past weekend, but still seasonable and sunny on Saturday for the Bud Light Parade in Soulard. Laissez les bon temps rouler!
